"I don't want to drive up to the pearly gates in a shiny sports car, wearing beautifully, tailored clothes, my hair expertly coiffed, and with long, perfectly manicured fingernails.
I want to drive up in a station wagon that has mud on the wheels from taking kids to scout camp.
I want to be there with grass stains on my shoes from mowing Sister Schenk's lawn.
I want to be there with a smudge of peanut butter on my shirt from making sandwiches for a sick neighbor's children.
I want to be there with a little dirt under my fingernails from helping to weed someone's garden.
I want to be there with children's sticky kisses on my cheeks and the tears of a friend on my shoulder.
I want the Lord to know I was really here and that I really lived."
I love this fun woman... who in so many ways has inspired me to be real as I go through life.
I want to fill it with laughter, silliness, letters, singing, stories, choices, patience, children, kissing, burnt sweet potatoes, bike rides, water, glitter, bright colors, a front porch and really long hikes.
Here are some more ideas on how to really live:
I just long for the day when all our hearts are changed... and filled... only with good things to say to one another. Our tongues will be honest and there will be no fear about what will be expressed by the ones you love. They will see you, they will be grateful for you...
and the wind will carry the truth to us all about who we are and how much we are all loved.
This post made my day as I go through my difficult trial, Meg! :) Thank you!
