The Golden Year.

The moon still is going through her cycles.

The storms still stop.

The trees still bloom after the long cold winter.

I am truing 23 in a matter of hours. Everyone who knows me, knows that I love celebrations. I don’t believe that you need a reason to celebrate… but birthdays are of the most importance. At least once a year (more if possible) everyone deserves to have a song sung just to them. After all… why do you think we celebrate birthdays? It’s the leftover excitement we once felt for making the decision to come to this awful, joyful planet in the first place. And besides, life is better with sprinkles. It’s just true.

In my family your golden birthday was the most important. At least I always thought it was. Your golden birthday is when the date of your birthday matches the number of years you have lived. It is a silly little life tradition of mine. Let me just express here that I have been waiting for this birthday of mine for a number of years. It doesn’t really matter what you do for your golden birthday…all that matters is that on that day – the universe will allow so many of your wishes to come true.

There are 3 people on this earth that I would consider long term friends.

One of the them, asked me the first time she saw me after the mission:

“megs, what are you going to do now?”

she already knew my response.

“I want to go join the circus!”

We laughed.

She said:

“you have been saying that for years meg.”

(Oh how good it felt to be known.)

The desires of our hearts are such fun things to discover with an old friend.
